Ceviche cooking class at Oceano in Huanchaco Peru

We met fellow travelers Hans and Anouk as we checked in early to Oceano Hospedaje in Huanchaco, Peru.  A couple from a university town in Belgium, they were also on a long-term adventure through parts of South America.  Backpacking in the same southeastern direction through Peru, we bonded over a unique ceviche cooking class delivered by our host Carlos from Oceano. Further down the trail we celebrated my 34th birthday in Lima, gave them some advice on a dune buggy/sandboarding tour in Huacachina, and partied the new year amongst thousands of revelers in Cusco’s Plaza de Armas.  Here are some shots from our first encounter in the communal kitchen at Oceano.

Hans prepared us authentic Peruvian ceviche.

He sliced the camote and I received a second helping.
