Holidays to Egypt

There is no doubt that Egypt holds a certain place in the popular imagination as it has done for centuries but there is more to the country than mummies and museums. The coastal regions boast some of the best beaches to be found anywhere in Africa or the Middle East and a booming tourist industry means local communities are increasingly geared-up to accommodate newcomers and return visitors alike.

The image of Egypt’s ancient pyramids or the Valley of the Kings is an unforgettable one for anyone lucky enough to get the chance to see them up close but there is really no reason why holidays to Egypt need to be about any more than just enjoying beach life and blue waters.

The quality of scuba diving in Egypt is second to none, which is to say that the specular nature of what lies on the bottom of its seas can hardly be beaten. Other pass-times taken at least fairly seriously in Egypt these days include kite boarding and quad biking. Both involve dashing around shifting sand dunes at a decent pace and are a great deal of fun for those of us a with a bit of an adventurous streak.

Of course, as with any holiday resort or beach paradise worth its salt, Egypt offers plenty of opportunity to simply sit around and close to nothing. You’ll do well to pick a time of the year that isn’t gloriously sunny wherever you stay, so if working on your tan is a priority then you need only bring your lotion and be a bit careful not to bake away altogether.

Among the top resort areas in Egypt is Sharm el-Sheikh, where tens of thousands of tourists are accommodated on an annual basis and where the combination of attractions, nightlife and the natural beauty of Egypt is arguably at its best. The city lies on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula and runs into the Red Sea in all its magnificent glory. Bars, restaurants and shopping centres are there in an abundance as are some of the very finest hotels in region.

So there’s a great deal to see and do in any part of Egypt and to say that the country is full of surprises would be a huge understatement. Nevertheless, the traditional reasons for setting off on holidays to Egypt are still as strong as ever. The pyramids, the sphinx, the whole nine yards. It doesn’t get much more unforgettable than a trip to Egypt.
